Description

In this eTapas children will learn the rooms in the house using TPR.

They will learn the scaffolding for talking about where something is in the house.

" Where is the______________?" "____________ is in the_______________".

Use the lesson as an introduction before teaching the children the different pieces of furniture and items found in the house.

Schedule

# Stage Time Topic Method
1 Information:   5 mins Check that children have learned vocabulary from video by playing a quick TPR game.  Begin as a class and call out a room.  The children should be able to give the matching action as in the video.  Reverse the game by showing the children the action and they should, as a class, call out the name of the room.  To finish the game.  Single out 2 to 3 children to play against each other.  Winners stay standing, losers sit down.  Those standing at the end of the game are the winners.  Teacher during this session picks up who knows the language and who will need help.

Conditions

Children will watch the video prior to the English lesson in their own time so that they can practice the pronunciation of each room and know them before class.  Children therefore need access to view the video either at home or if not possible at home then extra class time before the above scheduled lesson takes place.  For one of the stations a few Mini Lük games need to be made available.    Worksheets and games can be done in small groups and set up as stations. Answers should be made available to the children for self check.  Teacher will have to print out the worksheets and materials depending on the size of the class and on how big she wants the individual stations.   Teacher will of course have to listen in on the speaking activity to give any help with pronunciation.  This set up should give the teacher maximum opportunity to work with those who need extra help and for stronger students to work independently.  Teacher can choose from the material which stations are compulsory depending on time and how much practice the children need.
